Abstract

A diabetic foot ulcer is a common complication among people with diabetes which may cause from peripheral neuropathy, peripheral arterial disease, overpressure point and injury. In addition, diabetic foot ulcers may lead to foot amputation regarding wound infection particular in people who have poor control blood glucose level, painless sensation, and foot deformity. Living with diabetic foot ulcer has an impact on people with diabetes including physical, mental, and quality of life as well as, family’s burden of care has also affected from being diabetic foot ulcers.


Nursing role in the multidisciplinary care team is essential for managing diabetic foot ulcers, in order to reduce rate of foot amputation, death, and cost of medical treatment, as well as quality of life improvement among people with diabetic foot ulcers.
