This research aimed to study the operating processes of silk cloth occupational groups in Nakhon Ratchasima and to suggest how to increase their operating efficiency. The samples, selected by the purposive sampling, consisted of 21 occupational groups from Chakkarat, Buayai, Muangyang, and Pakthongchai districts. The data, collected by interview, were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative techniques. This study found five important results. Firstly, the groups planned for their routine production. Secondly, most of them paid for their raw materials in cash with quality and convenient criteria. Thirdly, the manual labor was used in the operating processes. The processes were assigned to each group member, depending on each capability. Fourthly, most groups delivered their silk cloth to the wholesalers and occasionally had their sales representatives sell their products at the public trade shows. Finally, the groups received only a few silk returns from their customers. Therefore, these occupational groups should plan for their operational processes, set their operating targets, and record their operating results in order to improve their operations. Moreover, they should build a network within silk cloth occupational groups to increase their bargaining powers with their suppliers and customers. Finally, the public sector should also provide the silk weaving training to relieve the labor shortage problem and support a building network in the silk cloth industry.
