Abstract

In the past, the mental health service and social’s perspective toward psychopath was investigated from the approach of Biomedical Science. The patients were judged from an objective perspective. In order to be recovered from mental illness, the patients needed to go through the processes of treatment, which inevitably had social impact. In the late 19th century, there was a mental health reform. The social perspective paradigm defeated Biomedical Science, leading to the judgment of patients as subjects. It resulted in the redefinition of the ‘recovery’, which focused on coexisting with the illness,
instead of treating the patients until they recover to the normal state.
