Evaluation of the Safety Bike Cycle Routes by Participants and Geographic Information System Application, Kamphaeng Phet Province

Abstract

This research aims to survey, select and evaluate the suitable route in developing safer bike route by using Geographic Information System (GIS) and participations, Kamphaeng Phet province. The results found that all 200 respondents need safer bike routes in the area.


In addition, they propose 20 alternative routes for develop safer bike routes. With these alternatives, there are 5 short bike routes, 9 medium bike routes and 6 long bike routes.


This suitable route evaluating method are using GIS technique and scoring by the participants. The 3 criteria include bike route atmosphere, safety of the route and developing potential of the route, that apply to select alternative routes for appropriate routes developing. The study found top three short distances for suitable bike routes are BR01 Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park around bike trails, BR02 Siri Chit Uthayan Park to Nakhon Chum city bike route, and BR04          Ko Khaek community-Siri Chit Uthayan Park-Tho Thongdaeng check dam and maintenance no. 2 bike route. The top three medium distance for suitable bike routes are BR14 Khlong Lan waterfall and Khlong Nam Lai waterfall linking path, BR07 Kamphaeng Phet City bike lanes, and BR12 Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park-Roads no. 101-Bo Nam Phu Ron Phra Ruang Hot Spring bike route. For long distance suitable bike routes, the appropriate top three are BR16 Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park to Mae Wong National Park bike routes, BR 17 Kamphaeng Phet City to Khlong Wang Chao National Park bike route, and BR20 Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park to Sukhothai Historical Park bike route.
