Abstract
ในอดีตประเทศแถบเอเชียใต้และเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้มีวัฒนธรรมการนำผ้าหลากหลายชนิดมาใช้ห่อคัมภีร์ใบลาน โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อยืดอายุการใช้งานและปกป้องรักษาคัมภีร์ใบลานจากฝุ่น แมลง ความร้อน ความชื้นในอากาศ นอกจากนี้ผ้าห่อคัมภีร์ใบลานยังแฝงไปด้วยเรื่องราวความรู้ทางวัฒนธรรมของแต่ละชุมชนที่ควรแก่การศึกษาวิจัย รวบรวมเป็นฐานข้อมูลผ้าห่อคัมภีร์ใบลานในประเทศไทย อันจะเป็นมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมของประเทศชาติสืบไป
Palm-Leaf Manuscript Wrap: The Cultural Heritage
In the past, palm-leaf manuscripts in South and Southeast Asia countries were wrapped by various kinds of fabrics. The objective of wrapping is to extend the lifespan of palm-leaf manuscripts and to protect the manuscripts from dust, insects, heat and moisture. In addition, the palm-leaf manuscript wrapping can be used to reflect the cultural stories and knowledge of each community. It is therefore worth studying and gathering information about the palm-leaf manuscript wrapping in Thailand which is considered as the national cultural heritage.
