The Development of Information System for Personnel Performance Appraisal at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi

Abstract

The purposes of this research and development project were 1) to develop an information system for personnel performance appraisal, and 2) to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed information system. The project was divided into 2 phases. In phase I, the system development life cycle (SDLC) model was used to guide the development of the information system for personal performance appraisal. The process consisted of four stages: 1) planning; 2) system analysis; 3) system design; and 4) implementation. In the planning process, an in-depth interview with eight representatives drawn from the administrative and academic staffs in the Boromarajonani College of Nursing Saraburi was conducted to identify problems and needs of the information system. The effectiveness of the developed information system was evaluated through an online questionnaire by sixty two users selected from academic and support staffs.


The results revealed that


1) The information system for personnel performance appraisal was developed using the MySQL Database Management System. The PHP programming language was used to create web pages of this information system.


2) After the implementation, the result of system evaluation revealed that the effectiveness of-of the information systems for personnel performance appraisal was at a good the level (mean = 4.19, SD = 0.62). It could be concluded that the developed information system could support the information management required in performance appraisal. However, this information system needs to follow up for further improvement.
