The Effect of Slow - Release Nitrogen Fertilizer with Bacillus subtilis on Growth and Inhibition of Soil Borne Disease in Tomato Seedling

Abstract

      The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficiency of slow-release nitrogen (N) fertilizer (11-48-0) with Bacillus subtilis (BS) on growth and inhibition of soil borne disease in tomato. This study was divided into two experiments. Experiment 1, effect of slow-release N fertilizer with BS was inhibited of rotten stem of tomato caused by Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia solani in laboratory. The data collection inhibited of disease percentage on 7 day. The results shown that the slow-release N fertilizer with BS could be inhibited mycelial growth and over grew the colony of S. rolfsii and R.solani were 56.33 and 63.33 percent, respectively. Experiment 2, effect of slow-release N fertilizer with BS was enhanced growth and inhibited of rotten stem in tomato seedling. The experimental design used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 12 replications and 6 treatments. The results showed that non- fertilizer (control) and fertilizer+BS application treatments gave the plant height, plant weight, root weight and root length higher than S. rolfsii and R. solani application treatments. By the time, applying slow-release nitrogen (N) fertilizer with BS reduced the percentage of S. rolfsii and R. solani infected in tomato seedlings.
