Desire and Characteristics of Alumnae Deserving the Demand for Alumnae in Master of Public Health Program (Public Health) at Faculty of Public Health, Ubon Ratchani Rajabhat University

Abstract

The research aimed to study desire and characteristics of alumnae deserving the demand for alumnae in Master of Public Health Program (Public Health) at Faculty of Public Health, Ubon Ratchani Rajabhat University. Sample size were two groups: the first group was a public health program 4th year students in the Faculty of Public Health, Ubon Ratchani Rajabhat university and the group of employers/entrepreneurs was the public health workers, Provincial health officers in public health related field and companies with the total 340 participants and using the quota sampling. Data collection was carried out during October - December, 2016 by questionnaires and data were analyzed in descriptive statistics, frequency, percent, mean and standard deviation. The result showed that the group of public health program 4th year students have to desired in Master of Public Health program (Public Health) with 25.2%, With some of the reason; Confidence in the name of the university (47.4%), have an aptitude / inclination in this field (44.7%), this course can pursue a lecturer (58.9%) in faculty of Public Health and public health officer and researcher (47.6% and 26.5% Respectively). The study found that the most of participants want to study in official day with 55.9% while the cost for this course should be 20,000-35,000 baht (38.6%) per semester and the most sources of costs comes from their parents / relatives (83.9%). The result of this study in demand group showed the high scores domain for graduate desirable that the moral and professions ethics and the characteristics that affect performance were highest desired, included discipline, punctuality and responsibility, profession and society (73.3%), a conscience of social responsibility and awareness of professional ethics (65.3%) and endurance, Strive, diligence (61.5%). The part of academic environmental graduate desirable that the top five was found that the employers/entrepreneurs want to the graduate to have knowledge, skills and critical thinking rationally (73.3%) at the farthest subordinate is moral and professions ethics (62.6%), social responsibility and behave as a good role model (53.0%), professions with quality (51.9%) and last sacrifice and dedication (47.7%).
