Information Management for Hospital Accreditation

The purposes of this study are: 1) to study information management of accredited hospitals; 2) to study the standard level of administration which is based on Hospital Accreditation in hospitals; 3) to study the relationship between information management and the level of standard administration of accredited hospitals; 4) to search for solutions to stimulate the role of information management in supporting the development of Hospital Accreditation.

The population in this study are private and public hospitals in Bangkok; out of which 1,175 samples comprising of hospital executives, officials and patients based on health standard to be selected. Tool of this study. The results of the study are based on quantitative and qualitative data analyzed by Canonical Correlation and Path Analysis.

It was found from the study that Bangkok accredited hospitals account for a “high” level, both in aggregate and individual dimensions, especially in patient caring, accessibility, timely service and good coordination, followed by important hospital work systems and organization management in that order.

It was also revealed from Canonical Correlation that accredited hospitals scored high on information management vis à vis the level of standard administration especially the improvement and development of information systems, information management evaluation, and the conclusion of hospital information system utilization.

Form the primary/ elementary study, a hospital information system model has been set up so that the hospital information system should emphasize on its improvement and development in accordance with hospitals context. The gained knowledge of which is very beneficial for administrative efficiency as well as hospital accreditation in the years to come.
