THE STUDY WORK PRACTICE OF THE PERSONNEL WITH AEC STANDARD AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF EMPLOYEE MODEL FOR HOTEL BUSINESS IN ECONOMY ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHEAST ASIAN NATIONS COMMUNITY

Abstract

This research was purposed to 1) study of work practices according to ASEAN standard for human resource of Thai hotel business in ASEAN Economy nations Community, 2) investigate effects of AEC’s operation toward the work practices of human resource in Thai hotel business, 3) analyze needs for professional development of human resource in Thai hotels in AEC age,   4) identify requirement for human resource proficiency in Thai hotel business in AEC age,             5) compare the needs for professional development of human resource in Thai hotels in AEC age among 6 regions, and 6) study elements and models of professional development for human resource in big Thai hotels.


            Populations were 185 hotels registered with Hotel Association of Thailand in 6 regions (HAT, 2012). The 128 samples of finite populations (Silcharu, 2010) were randomized by Stratified Random Sampling and were simplified sampling for 42 staff from each hotel which totaled to 5,376 hotel staff. The questionnaire with IOC of .911 and the reliability of .986 was analyzed for frequency, percentage, SD, and other data.  The analysis of F – test (ANOVA – One-way Analysis of Variances) compared the requirement of human resource in 6 regions, Exploratory Factor Analysis analyzed elements of requirements for proficiency development, Path Analysis analyzed models of proficiency development and Ethnographic Future Research – EFR confirmed static models of proficiency development for human resource in Thai hotels of AEC age. Results found that human resource who worked in Thai hotels performed good level of proficiency at 3.25 and the effect from AEC operation toward their work practice was in much level at 3.53. Thai hotels’ human resource required proficiency development in moderate level at 3.47 and identified requirement for human resource proficiency in Thai hotels also in moderate level at 3.49. The comparison of requirement for proficiency development in AEC age in 6 regions showed indifferent at the significance of .05. The finding also revealed elements and models for proficiency developments in 7 topics;  1) knowledge in hotel business,                            2) language and technology skills, 3) knowledge of hotel jobs and duties, 4) MRAs standard skill, 5) cautious accountability, 6) service-mind set, and 7) team working. The models of proficiency development were congruent to empirical data in good level with appropriate, possible, accurate practices and could be implemented to hotels’ work in AEC age.
