Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to study the Factors Affecting Organizational Loyalty among Staff in Generation-Y in Five Star Hotels in Sukhumvit Area in Bangkok. As the staff turnover in 5-star hotel can be seen nowadays, especially generation-Y staff, who is prompt with working abilities, multi-task skills and other potential that can drive the organization forward. Therefore, the researcher would like to study the factors that affect organizational loyalty amongst generation-Y staff. The sample of this study is limited to staff who works in 5-star hotel with age range between 18 to 36 or those born in year B.C. 1982 – 2000. The research method is collecting 400 questionnaires with hypothesis based on 2-factors theory by Fredrick Herzberg to search for the correlation between the two factors and organizational loyalty amongst generation-Y staff. The statistics used for data analysis of frequency, Percentage, Standard Deviation, t-test, One-way ANOVA statistical analysis and rating scale by John W. Best.


The result of this research shows that personal factors including gender and marital status do not affect the organizational loyalty. However; education, experience working in hotels and five hotels, position levels and salary effects on organizational loyalty. The motivation factors that affect most on organizational loyalty is success, job satisfaction, organizational acceptance, career path and responsibility respectively. On the other side, the hygiene factors that affect organizational loyalty is treatment within organization, satisfaction towards hotel policies, job position, the relationship with boss and colleagues, salary, and security.
