COMPETENCY ON INTEGRATED MUNICIPALITY SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT OF PEOPLE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the demographic, economic and social status, information exposure, problems, knowledge, awareness and participation for competency on integrated municipality solid waste management of people in Prachuap Khirikhan province. It is depending on the relationship between five factors; information exposure, problems, knowledge, awareness and participation for competency on integrated municipality solid waste management of people in Prachuap Khirikhan province. This is a research the quantitative method the data collecting by questionnaires form the sampling group of 400 people in Prachuap Khirikhan municipality. The data was analyzed by the frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Assumption testing by t-test, One-way Annova and Pearsan’s product moment correlation coefficient were describe to analyze the relationship of the variable.

            The results revealed that most of the samples were male, middle age group. There is a frequency of media selection and information exposure from print media, mass media, specialized media and personal media 

For competency on integrated municipality solid waste management was in less level, and the problems form local people, community and municipality on integrated municipality solid waste management were in the moderate level. Overall for competency on integrated municipality solid waste management of people in Prachuap Khirikhan province, according to 3 Rs principles, including waste reduce, reuse and recycle. This finding was in highly ranking in knowledge, high level awareness and participation at the operational level for some time. In hypothesis testing, revealed the demographic, economic and social status were different, knowledge, awareness and participation for competency on integrated municipality solid waste management were significantly different at 0.05 level. The relationship between information exposure, problems, knowledge, awareness and participation for competency on integrated municipality solid waste management of people in Prachuap Khirikhan province were positively correlated, statistically significant at 0.01 level.
